Sometimes, there is a reason that cheap mattresses are cheap and normally it is due to the construction, which is responsible for support and comfort. If you buy a mattress that is cheaply constructed, it may be uncomfortable to sleep on or may start to develop a trough from your body weight or cause you to roll towards your partner all night long, and you wake up in the morning with achy muscles.
Cheap Mattresses or Quality Beds?
You may find yourself replacing a cheap mattress much quicker than you would a better quality mattress that costs more. Even cheaper mattress prices can start around a couple hundred dollars, minimum. You can good quality mattresses that start for slightly more.
If you consider the money you spent on a cheap mattress and doubled or tripled it, then you might find it is cheaper to buy a good quality mattress that will last you longer, than it is to buy two cheap ones that last half as long. The comfort level is considerably different in better quality mattress construction as well.
Many of the quality mattresses use individual innerspring coils, Visco elastic foam and Latex memory foam. These types of materials and construction can give you the ultimate comfort and avoid pressure points. When looking for good mattresses, support is important and helps improve circulation by avoiding pressure points and spinal pressure, regardless of the price.
Many people like the Memory foam or Visco Elastic foam mattresses that mold to your body and respond to your body heat. Because they conform to the body, it redistributes the body weight and causes less overall pressure per square inch. Memory foam comes in different densities, ranging from 2 pounds to 5 pounds. Thickness and density are two factors on these types of mattresses.
The Cheap Mattress Types That You Don’t Buy
It is important that you don’t get cheap memory foam mattresses, because they are low density which makes you sink in too deeply and can require more effort to roll over. They tend to wear out more quickly than some of the quality memory foam mattresses that react to your body heat and have higher density, like the Tempur-pedic brands.
If you decide on a mattress with coil innerspring construction, make sure that you try them out first if you can. Better yet, check if the individual coils can be individually wrapped, and then supported in a framework that makes them hold their shape. Some coil innerspring mattresses will develop body indents in a quick amount of time, if you don’t go with a higher quality coil innerspring construction.
Size is another consideration since king size mattresses cost more than double mattresses. You need to consider the size of the people who will be using these mattress sets. There is nothing worse than trying to save money with new mattresses where your feet hang over the end of the bed a few inches.
Cheap Mattress – Short Term or Long Term
Since we spend a third of our life sleeping in our beds, you want to consider a better quality mattress for the long term. If you are constrained by your budget, there are still good cheap mattresses available, but just remember the better quality mattresses may last you longer and be cheaper in the long run.
